"Strategy is the determination of the basic long-term goals of an enterprise, and the adoption of courses of action and the allocation of resources necessary for carrying out these goals." - Alfred Chandler

Strategic framework

We enable wellbeing in indoor environments.

People in many societies spend most of their time indoors; at home or work, in school and in transit. In average, we spend 90% of our time indoors and every one of us needs 12 cubic meters of clean air to breath per day. Consequently, the quality of indoor environment has a great impact on our wellbeing and our health.

Indoor air quality is an important determinant of population, health and wellbeing. Exposure to hazardous airborne agents present in many indoor spaces causes adverse effects such as respiratory disease, allergy and irritation of the respiratory tract. Today, 1.6 million people die annually due to poor indoor air - that is one death every 20 seconds. Due to poor indoor climate's adverse effects, the World Health Organisation has stated healthy indoor air as one of the basic human rights. (World Health Organisation Report: The Right to Healthy Indoor Air, Bilthoven, The Netherlands, May 2000; WHO Fact sheet N°292: Indoor Air Pollution and Health, 2005)

At Halton, we believe that everyone has a right to a healthy indoor air.
