Halton CDC chilled beam with LED lightsThe biggest World Expo in history will open it's doors in Shanghai on May 1st, 2010. The theme of the Expo is Better City, Better Life. The Finnish Pavilion concentrates on the makers of ”better life”: wellbeing, know-how, and environment. Those are also the basis for Halton's indoor environment solutions. Halton will deliver a unique, sustainable indoor air solution based on chilled beams with LED-lighting to the Finnish Pavilion.

The theme for the World Expo 2010 is BETTER CITY – BETTER LIFE. The global challenge is how to build sustainable urban life that offers places for people to lead fulfilling lives in dignity, good health, happiness, and hope. And EXPO’s main mission is to offer a platform for global dialogue and to show concrete ways to achieve a happier future urban life.

Finland , which will have its own pavilion in Shanghai World Expo 2010, will build its exposition around the elements of ‘a better life’ – well-being, competence and the environment – which also form a solid foundation for ‘a better city’. Elements of the better life are also the foundation for Halton indoor environment solutions. Halton's focus is on wellbeing in indoor environments, which is also very important for better life. Wellbeing is enabled by safe, pleasant, and energy efficient indoor environments.

Halton will deliver an indoor climate system for the VIP and the exhibition spaces of the Giant Kettle, the Finnish Pavilion designed by JKMM Architects. In the VIP spaces, the solution is based on new generation of chilled beams with extremely energy efficient LED-lighting. The system will see its world premiere at the Expo. The lighting is energy efficient and provides excellent lighting conditions with low life cycle costs compared to typical lighting solutions. The beams also come with Adaptable Climate solution, which enables high adaptability of spaces. .With Adaptable Climate solution the indoor climate is also adjusted based on space usage to effectively save energy. The solution in the exhibition areas of the Finnish Pavilion is based on efficient air diffusion system.
