Tietgen College of Copenhagen, Denmark Receives Graduate Degree in Capture Jet Technology

In 2001 Tietgen Fonden (Foundation) was established after receiving funding from the Norda Danmark Fonden (Foundation). The funding was provided for Tietgen College to establish a new college in the City of Orestaden. This multi use facility would house residences with 30 kitchens. Architects Lundgaard & Tundgaard receive their inspiration for the buildings unique design from the Chinese Tolou Method of building. Spiraling out of a central core is more than 350 apartments that give the building its characteristic circular look.

In 2002 Halton A/S Denmark was contacted by COWI A/S and the architects to collaborate on the kitchen ventilation systems for this unique structure. Part of the process was to visit the Halton Innovation Center in Bethune, France with the Halton team, Lundgaard & Tranberg and the General Contractor, Amcovent A/S.  During the visit a specially designed Capture Jet system was developed worthy of such a special building.  A prototype was built, inspected and approved for use in 30 kitchens throughout the facility.

First systems were ultimately delivered in March of 2005 during final construction of the complex. Commissioning of the Energy Efficient Capture Jet hoods took place shortly thereafter. The project was turned over to the college in the spring of 2007 and stands as a testament to creative thinking and energy saving solutions such as Capture Jet.

Well done to the Halton Denmark Team !
