Glenforest Secondary School

Glenforest Secondary School
Ontario, Canada

When Glenforest Secondary School, located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, came into being in 1969, Earth Day was still a year away. Fast forward 52 years, and sustainability and reducing your carbon footprint is no longer an aspirational goal of a design but a necessary aspect of today’s kitchen ventilation.

Trend Food Service of Mississauga regularly partners with Halton to provide state-of-the-art, energy-efficient kitchen ventilation solutions. The Culinary program at Glenforest offers hands-on training for students that aspire to work in the Commercial Food Service industry. The foundation learned at Glenforest provides a solid background for those looking to further their careers in this area. There are several special University culinary programs in the local area. George Brown and Seneca Colleges, to name two.

At Glenforest, Halton has provided Capture Jet high-efficiency exhaust hoods for their kitchen dedicated to serving the cafeteria and one designed as a bakery environment. There is also an area to teach basic culinary skills. These exhaust systems were equipped with Halton’s industry-leading M.A.R.V.E.L. demand control system. The M.A.R.V.E.L. automatically adjusts the exhaust and supply air rates based on cooking duty level saving significant energy and saving the school on its energy bill.

Halton’s kitchen ventilation systems are ideal for teaching environments as they are the quietest in foodservice.
