University-College Durham Castle

Durham, United Kingdom (2011)

University College, commonly known as Castle, is the oldest college of Durham University, founded in 1832, and is actually located in a Norman fortress.

Durham Castle was originally the ancient palace of the Prince Bishops of Durham and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The summer of 2011 saw the Castle undergoing its first major refurbishment in decades with the University spending £5 million on the Great Hall, Servery, Kitchen and student rooms.
The kitchen itself is over 500 years old, built by Bishop Fox around 1500, and services the impressive Dining Hall of Bishop Bek which is about 100 feet long and 45 feet high.

University College Durham Castle has chosen Halton solutions for the ventilation of their 500 year old kitchen.
