Halton Marine delivers to Total’s CLOV FPSO – a gigantic production vessel

CLOV FPSO will be a huge, self-contained floating production vessel that will operate in the waters off the west coast of Angola.

CLOV FPSO will be a huge, self-contained floating production vessel that will operate in the waters off the west coast of Angola. The FPSO will measure 305 meters in length, 61 meters in width, and will weigh 110,000 tons. It will be able to accommodate a maximum of 240 personnel. Only a handful of the world’s shipyards are equipped to build such gigantic vessels as CLOV FPSO built in South Korea, where FPSO hulls are assembled in huge dry docks.

Located approximately 140 kilometers from Luanda and 40 kilometers northwest of Dalia in water depths ranging from 1,100 to 1,400 meters, the CLOV development will lead to the four fields – Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violenta – coming from stream. The proved and probable reserves are estimated at approximately 500 million barrels of oil. (Source: Total)

CLOV FPSO that is named after the oil fields where it will operate will be able to produce 160,000 barrels of crude oil per day and treat 6.5 million cubic meter(s) per day of natural gas. It will be spread moored in 1,291 meter water depth.

The CLOV FPSO -project has been very interesting for us, says Olli Lehtinen, who has been working as a project manager for the project at Halton Marine. We had nearly 30 FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) at Halton factories in France and in Finland prior to deliveries, which is by far the most tests that I can recall for one project within my 20 years of working at Halton. CLOV FPSO has been definitely a significant project for us and I feel we have done our part with pride, comments Olli Lehtinen.
