Halton Marine supplies galley ventilation solutions for Explora Journeys’ first luxury cruise ship

Halton Marine, one of the world’s leading suppliers of marine HVAC, has delivered its galley ventilation solutions for Explora I, the first luxury cruise ship by Explora Journeys.

Explora I is the first of a fleet of six for the luxury ocean travel brand, Explora Journeys, under the MSC Group. The construction of the 63,900 GT vessel began at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, in June 2021. The vessel was delivered in July 2023 and embarked on its maiden journey in August 2023. Explora I features a state-of-the-art design that combines elegance, comfort, and sustainability.

Halton Marine has supplied its KW3 galley water wash hoods with Halton’s Capture Jet™ 3 technology and UV-light filtration, KVM extraction canopies, and CCW-M water wash control cabinets for the ship’s galleys. These systems are designed to ensure optimal indoor air quality, fire safety, hygiene, and energy efficiency in the galleys. Halton’s Capture Jet 3 technology reduces the exhaust airflow rates by up to 45%, while the hoods’ water wash feature together with control cabinets enables easy and automatic cleaning of the hood interior. The UV-light filtration eliminates even the smallest grease particles from the exhaust airflow, reducing significantly the maintenance costs and ductwork fire risk.

“We are proud to be part of this important project and to contribute to the exceptional dining experience that Explora Journeys offers to its guests,” stated Tapani Peltola, Halton Marine’s Sales Team Manager. “Our galley ventilation solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs and challenges of each ship and each galley. We have worked closely with the shipyard and the owner to ensure a smooth installation and commissioning process. We look forward to continuing our cooperation with Explora Journeys as they expand their fleet in the future.”
