Odyssey of the Seas is equipped with 1,000 pieces of Halton dampers

Halton Marine had the privilege to deliver approximately 1,000 pieces of Halton dampers for Odyssey of the Seas. Royal Caribbean International’s new flagship is one of the largest cruise ships ever built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

Halton Marine delivered approximately 1,000 pieces of Halton dampers for Royal Caribbean International’s new flagship, Odyssey of the Seas, their second Quantum Ultra-class unit. The delivered dampers included fire dampers, fire and gas dampers, gas-tight shut-off dampers, balancing dampers, and airflow management dampers.

Odyssey of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships ever built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. The cruise ship has 16 decks, 14 of which are passenger decks. With 2,137 passenger cabins, the cruise ship can accommodate 4,198 guests at double occupancy and 5,498 at full capacity. The 169,000-gt cruise ship has an overall length of 347.1 m, width of 41.4 m and 8.53 m draft.

With energy-efficient technical systems, such as the latest version of the under-hull air lubrication system and state-of-the-art exhaust gas purification systems, Odyssey of the Seas can save a considerable amount of energy. Powered by six main engines, the ship has a maximum speed of 22 knots with a total engine power of 67,200 kW and propulsion power of 41 MW.

Odyssey of the Seas has reliable fire safety equipment, such as Halton fire and gas dampers, which guarantee fire safety on board according to the highest standards. Fire and gas dampers are used to prevent the progress of fire and gases through ventilation ductworks. By doing so, the dampers protect people and equipment in the ship in case of a fire. The delivered FDB2 fire and gas damper is the most widely sold damper of its kind in the world.

Other delivered Halton dampers, such as UTG, UTT, PTS and UKV dampers, are used to either shut off, balance, or control airflow rates in the ship’s ductwork depending on the product. With more than 25 years of experience in the marine industry, Halton manufactures a wide range of state-of-the-art dampers designed for demanding offshore environments.
