Elina Nurminen, a Master’s student majoring in Strategic Business Development at University of Vaasa in Finland, was chosen by Odgers Berndtson through their rigorous selection process for the CEO x 1 Day program to give university students from third year up an opportunity to spend a day in the shoes of a senior executive. Odgers Berndtson identifies students with outstanding leadership potential and match them with a CEO from a leading Finnish organization.
“It was a truly unique and exciting opportunity for me to participate in the CEO x 1 Day program and spend a day shadowing Kai. The day as a whole was a great learning experience on leadership and different tasks and situations that the job of a CEO holds.
Elina shadowed Halton’s CEO Kai Konola on June 13, 2017 enabling her to gain experience within Halton’s Leadership and with several different tasks and situations that requires the attention and job skills of a CEO.
Elina says “It was a truly unique and exciting opportunity for me to participate in the CEO x 1 Day program and spend a day shadowing Kai. The day as a whole was a great learning experience on leadership and different tasks and situations that the job of a CEO holds. I think one of the highlights of the day was the visit to Lahti and the touring around the factory of Halton Marine there. What I also really valued was that I got to actively participate in different tasks during the day and that all the Haltonians were so welcoming. A warm thank you again to Kai and Halton for this amazing day and experience!”
Kai also had the pleasure to learn and answer many questions. Kai says” It was great to experience Elina’s talent, energy and enthusiasm for learning new things. Elina’s questions and comments, coming from a millennial’s perspective, gave me lot of food for thought. All in all, we had a great day together.”
