L’Oreal USA – Hudson Yards
Intelligent Kitchen Ventilation for a Modern Workplace Dining Experience
New York, New York (USA)
Located in the heart of Manhattan, L’Oréal Headquarters reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, employee wellbeing, and elevated workplace experiences. As part of the headquarters’ foodservice environment, the commercial kitchen required a ventilation solution capable of supporting daily culinary operations while aligning with the modern architectural and operational expectations of a premium corporate facility.
Meeting the Demands of Modern Corporate Foodservice
The kitchen ventilation system needed to support the demands of a modern corporate foodservice environment while balancing performance, comfort, and energy efficiency.
Key project challenges included:
- Managing heat, smoke, and grease from daily cooking operations
- Maintaining employee comfort within the kitchen environment
- Supporting a clean and comfortable atmosphere in adjacent occupied spaces
- Reducing unnecessary energy consumption during lower cooking periods
- Providing ventilation performance that could adapt to changing kitchen demand throughout the day
- Integrating ventilation solutions into a modern corporate headquarters environment
Architectural Ventilation Without Compromising Performance
Halton delivered an integrated kitchen ventilation solution designed to support performance, energy efficiency, operational flexibility, and architectural openness.
The solution included:
- Halton Capture Jet™ exhaust hoods to improve capture and containment performance in the main kitchen areas
- Halton JES (Jet Extraction System) for front cooking areas and architectural cooking concepts using low- to medium-duty, induction, and tabletop equipment
- M.A.R.V.E.L. demand-controlled kitchen ventilation to automatically adjust airflow based on real-time cooking activity
Workplace-Focused Ventilation Benefits
- Efficient capture of smoke and cooking effluent in front cooking areas, even at very low exhaust airflow levels
- A more open visual environment compared to traditional canopy-style hoods
- A clean, architectural design using glass and stainless steel to complement visible cooking areas
- Reduced exhaust airflow requirements compared to conventional ventilation approaches
- Ventilation airflow that adapts to actual cooking demand throughout the day
- Improved kitchen comfort, energy efficiency, and operational performance
