WE LAND | HElsinki, Finland
The We Land office building in Helsinki was the first in Finland to achieve a BREEAM Outstanding rating. Halton’s MUC airflow controllers are a key factor in implementing energy-efficient building services.

We Land
Project: We Land office building
Architect: JKMM Architects
Completed: 2024
Gross area: 37,000 m²
Environmental certification: BREEAM Outstanding
Energy class: A
Client: NCC
Scope: Halton Max MUC dampers, constant airflow dampers, control dampers, and terminal units.

The Challenge
The goal for the new premium office building was to make it as energy-efficient, low-emission, and sustainable as possible. The target was set to achieve Finland’s first BREEAM Outstanding environmental certification.
In addition, the spaces had to be designed to be as flexible as possible to accommodate the changing needs of tenants.

The Solution
Halton delivered a comprehensive range of ventilation components to We Land, including MUC airflow dampers, constant airflow dampers, control dampers, and terminal units.
Operating with ultrasonic technology, the Halton Max MUC dampers maintain the required airflow rate at a constant level in both supply and exhaust ducts. Approximately 400 units were installed. With these controllers, demand-based ventilation can be accurately implemented in every room.

Value for the Client
Highly Energy-Efficient Ventilation System
Demand-based ventilation responds automatically to room temperature and carbon dioxide levels. The MUC dampers precisely regulate airflows based on occupancy. As a result, the ventilation system is highly energy-efficient: the building has an energy class A rating, carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by 30 percent, and the BREEAM Outstanding certification was achieved as the first in Finland.
Tenants in the office property have very diverse needs. Some floors are divided into small rooms, while others feature large open spaces without partition walls. These modifications can be made flexibly without causing disruptions to the rest of the building.
Samuli Salo, Building Services Specialist, NCC
“Energy efficiency is our top priority, which made demand-based ventilation a necessity. Halton’s MUC airflow dampers are critical for the entire property. They are one of the most important factors enabling us to reach our ambitious environmental targets.”
