Halton Droplet Separator: Ensuring Reliability for Demanding Marine Environments

September 28, 2025

Oceangoing vessels, offshore platforms, and wind turbines and substations are constantly exposed to relentless environmental challenges. The corrosive threat of salt spray is not limited to storms; it is constant, as the air itself carries salt particles even in calm conditions. Superior filtration efficiency is therefore critical for protecting vital equipment, such as ventilation systems and air handling units. This continuous protection directly translates into significant savings on maintenance, repair, and replacement costs. This is precisely why Halton droplet separators (water separator, mist eliminator), with their easy installation and unique design, have become a core requirement for these applications.

Proven Efficiency

Halton droplet separators meet these demands with proven reliability, achieved through rigorous performance testing. Tested in an independent laboratory in accordance with the EN 13030:2001 standard for simulated rainfall, it achieves the highest Class A performance rating while maintaining minimal pressure drop. These separators come in single-stage, two-stage, and three-stage configurations, each independently tested and certified to meet specific droplet removal efficiency requirements.

How does it work?

Droplet separators operate on the principle of inertial vane separation. Air is forced into a controlled path through the separator vanes. Heavier water droplets cannot follow due to their momentum. The collected moisture is then drained vertically away by gravity.

Application-Specific Configuration

Halton droplet separators are available in single to three-stage configurations to match specific efficiency requirements, with multi-stage units integrating coalescing and particulate filters. For extreme conditions such as Arctic fog, heated vane options are available to ensure reliable operation. Supported by a modular design approach, we provide custom sizing and engineering solutions tailored to your project’s specific parameters including pressure drop, airflow, and environmental conditions.
