For over 60 years, Accrington & Rossendale College has been providing award-winning education and training.
It is located in Accrington, Lancashire.
In recent years they have invested over £20 million in the Accrington-based Broad Oak Campus, building a campus truly worthy of the 21st century.
The ground floor of the new centre will provide a high quality restaurant, preparation and training kitchen, retail outlet and storage warehouse, offering specialist bakery and patisserie training facilities, providing a state-of-the-art commercial working environment for all of the Hospitality and Catering Learners.

The design and install a ventilation system into the training kitchens, under strong budgetary guidelines, but giving the students clear sight lines to enhance their ‘learning’ experience.
Halton has been working initially with Steven A Hunt Associates, Liverpool based M&E consultant, on the designs for a new catering training college.
Once the equipment layouts were developed, concerns were that aesthetically large canopies hanging in a long narrow room, would make the teaching environment oppressive and not conducive for the required environment…
Several options have been explored, stating both pro’s and con’s to each solution, in each of the 5 catering areas, before submitting to the client.
2 of the areas would have been uneconomical and unjustifiable to propose ceilings, but the other 3 areas were ideal.
Importantly, through the consultant, the client agreed with our reasoning, understanding and knowledge, so Cyclocell ceilings were utilised on the 3 main training kitchens. Pastry kitchens being canopy.
Pre order, design and lighting considerations took up a large proportion of time.
From this stage onwards, we started working directly with the main contractor, John Turner Construction, as it was a design and build project.
